'Hell on Wheels’ renewed by AMC for second seasonSunday, December 25, 2011
According to relevant sources, the cable network AMC is planning to announce an official renewal of the Western drama ‘Hell on Wheel’ starring Anson Mount and Common in near future. This series revolves around the building of the first transcontinental railroad system. This series became AMC’s second highest original series premiere when it was launched in November. The first remained the net’s zombie hit ‘The Walking Dead.’ ‘Hell on Wheels’ drew 4.4 million total viewers, and an impressive 2.4 million in the key adults 18-49 demographic. Till now Western has provided five original series that are gaining more than one season as AMC is already gaining success with scripted fare, joining Walking Dead, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Killing. In addition, the series has proven a valuable property internationally. Hell on Wheels was created by Joe and Tony Gayton, who also executive produce alongside Endemol’s Jeremy Gold and John Shiban.
