General Hospital and ABC lead the nomination pack for 2012 Daytime Emmys

The 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held and announced on June 23.

The nominations for 2012 Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Wednesday, May 9, and this Wednesday proved to be a great day for ABC. The network gained lead over every other as it topped the list with 56 total nods for nominations. The next to ABC was PBS which won 51 Emmy nominations.

The daily soap “General Hospital” helped ABC immensely to lead the way for maximum nominations as this single program secured 23 Daytime Emmy Nominations including for Outstanding Drama Series. Other two programs that won Emmy nominations were Sesame Street and The Young and the Restless as both of them gained 16 nominations each.

This Wednesday also offered a lovely farewell for the two recently cancelled soaps “All My Children” and “One Life to Live.” Both of these daytime dramas secured 11 nominations.
