British Girl wins America’s Next Top Model

This time, competition for America’s Next Top Model was a clash of nations as on Wednesday night, Laura LaFrate of America had to compete with Britain’s Sophie Sumner for the finale.

The finale competition was dramatic as viewers saw LaFrate being rushed to the hospital early on as she suffered an apparent panic attack. At the end, British girl Sophie Sumner easily walked away with the title. All of the judges heaped praises on the British competitor. Show host Tyra Banks enthusiastically used the word “genius” to describe the quality of work of Sumner during one of the contest.

It was show’s 18th cycle and its theme was “British Invasion.” This time, the show featured American and British models competing for the title of America’s Next Top Model. In the finale, the challenge was to perform TV ads for Covergirl and a runaway show with holograms.

The prize for the winner included a chance in Italian Vogue, a Covergirl cosmetics contract and a modelling contract.

After the finale, the 20 year-old American model competitor and second runner LaFrate was intervied and she said that she was relieved not to have to keep the outcome a secret any longer. “I felt like I was lying to people,” she said. LaFrate is a native of upstate New York.

On the other hand, this second chance was lucky for Sumner, 22, who failed to win the title on Britain’s Next Top Model’s fifth cycle.
