After competing in Dancing with the Stars, Cloris Leachman wishes to compete against the young competitors of American Idol. Cloris is 84 years old and she just cannot compete in the reality show. The allowable age limit for a person to contest for American Idol is 15 to 28 years of age.
Leachman is promoting her Fox sitcom Raising Hope and during her interview, she said that her son who is also her business manager asked about what she would like to do after completing her project on Dancing With The Stars and her heartily answer was, she wants to be American Idol. Cloris said, “My mouth said American Idol.”
Leachman didn’t know that she could not take part in the competition because of the official age limit for the show and she felt it isn’t justified. On lighter note, she said she is yet not ready to give up her dream. She joked about it and said, “My son suggested we hire [famed lawyer] Gloria Allred to represent me and we’ll sue them.”
Leachman is a veteran actor who started acting in late 1940’s. She said that she is able to perform a tune and even being bad or good is also not major issue. She said, “Bad or good, I’d be singing, I think they should use me.”
