Jay Roach Signs Two-Year Overall Deal with HBO

Director Jay Roach has signed an exclusive two-year overall deal with HBO.

This news is coming months after the latest political documentary, Game Change, was aired on HBO. That documentary attained high ratings and appreciation for the premium cable network. That documentary film was centered on the presidential campaign of 2008 elections in John McCain’s role was played by Ed Harris while Julianne Moore played the role of Sarah Palin. In addition, he also won an Emmy for 2008 HBO political telepic, Recount.

As new election season is approaching, HBO has decided to continue to invest in political fare. In addition to signing Jay Roach, HBO management has also decided for the renewals of Real Time With Bill Maher and political comedy Veep. The HBO network is also promoting June addition of The Newsroom, an Aaron Sorkin drama which centers on a cable news reporter. HBO is also prepping an upcoming George H.W. Bush documentary from Jerry Weintraub.

Jay Roach is better known for his extensive comedy work on the big screen. He is credited for the Austin Powers and Meet the Parents films. Later this summer, he’ll release Campaign, which stars Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two Southerners vying for a seat in Congress.
