Jon Voight, Elliott Gould join Ray Donovn, Pilot for ShowtimeFriday, February 10, 2012
Ray Donovan, the drama pilot for Showtime is working on its cast and recently, the team for this project was joined by Jon Voight and Elliott Gould. It will be a family drama which will revolve round a professional “fixer” for the rich and famous people in Los Angeles. The title character will be played by Live Schreiber of the fame of Salt. Oscar winning actor Jon Voight will be playing the role of Ray’s father Mickey Donovan. Elliott Gould has been tapped in for the drama to play a possibly recurring guest appearance as Ray’s mentor. With credits including Midnight Cowboy and Coming Home, Voight’s Mickey is a newly freed ex-convict looking to reconnect with his estranged family. Gould (Friends) would recur should the pilot be ordered to series and play Ezra Goodman, a senior partner at a law firm showing signs of early dementia. While Ray plays well as the go-to-guy in Hollywood, solving the highly confidential problems of rich and famous personalities of the city, he fails to solve his own life’s problems and to escape the damage being done in his own family. This pilot is being created by Ann Biderman who will be the executive producer along with Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff for the Mark Gordon Co., production. Ray Donovan is expected to begin in the first quarter in Los Angeles. Ray Donovan was one of three new pilots to get the green light under new Showtime entertainment chief David Nevins in August.
