NBC’s Fashion Star bought by Bell Media for its CTV Two channel

Canadian broadcaster Bell Media has bought NBC’s fashion competition series Fashion Star for its CTV Two channel.

Elle Macpherson is the host of this series which will be aired in Canada on March 13. On the same day, it will be premiered in the United States.

Fourteen designers will compete for a clothing line at H&M, Macy’s and Saks Fifth Avenue. Canadian viewers will be able to purchase design items of weekly winners through internet while the clothing will be available in select American retail stores.

Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos are the mentors of the designing competition Fashion Star while the judges for the show are Caprice Willard, Nicolee Christie and Terron E. Schaefer.

The Fashion Star format was developed by Electus’ Ben Silverman, Rick Ringbakk of 5X5 Media, and E.J. Johnston and James Deutch of EJD Productions.

The executive producers of the show are Macpherson, Silverman, Jane Lipsitz and Dan Cutforth of The Magical Elves, Ringbakk, Johnston and Deutch.
