Ryan Murphy Joins PromaxBDA LineupThursday, May 31, 2012
Ryan Murphy was recently confirmed as a speaker at the PromaxBDA Confrence which will be held on June 12-14 in Los Angeles. Murphy is known for creating Glee and American Horror Story. “Few who have had such a seismic, global impact on television, film and storytelling are as dedicated and involved in marketing and promotion as Ryan Murphy,” said Jonathan Block-Verk, president and CEO of PromaxBDA International. An announcement was made on Wednesday according to which, Murphy will talk about the things that inspires him and drives a show’s success and he will also try to provide insight on his experience and involvement with marketing and promotion on all of his productions. Murphy started as a journalist and then he became a screenwriter during the 1990s. He got a break to write, direct and produce a movie “Running With Scissors” in 2006. In 2010, he got a chance to direct Julia Roberts in Eat Pray Love. He is expected to do another movie The Normal Heart with Julia Roberts and Mark Ruffalo. However, Murphy attained real success with TV. He created the huge hit Glee which earned him an Emmy as a director and he also got five other nominations. Then he wrote and directed FX’s series Nip/Tuck. Now, he is producing, writing and directing American Horror Story for FX. Previously announced speakers for the annual conference of PromaxBDA include Betty White; John Landgraf, president and GM of FX Networks; Kay Madati, head of entertainment marketing at Facebook; Pam Kaufman, CMO at Nickelodeon Networks; actor/comedian Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants; Rick Haskins, executive vp marketing and digital programs at The CW; Suzanne Kolb, president of E!
